Disease spreads its darkness
Without the best care.
Tending at home is our
Answer to prayer.
God’s time is so precious,
And Jesus gives rest.
A branch on God’s life tree,
You’ll always be blessed.
Your suffering’s over;
God’s ended your pain.
You’re missed here on earth, yet;
We’ll see you again.
You’re now full and happy
With manna, your bread,
At God’s banquet table,
You’ll always be fed.
The wine that you drink of
Will be pure and sweet;
The fruit from God’s garden,
delicious to eat.
When I see your sweet face
At God’s golden gate,
I’ll shout, “God is so good,
And God is so great!”
You’ll run up to meet me,
And holding my hand,
You’ll say, “Love, we made it,
To God’s Promised Land!”

I wrote this poem for Dave, and I read it to him before he died. He said it was beautiful. I was inspired to write it on the day he told me that the orange juice in Heaven was going to taste sooo good!
This poem was included in the bulletin for his memorial service. I’m sharing it for Father’s Day, because though I want to write about grief and the silver lining, it’s just too painful right now. So I thought… even though our family is struggling, grieving, and missing Dave so much; the silver lining is that the beloved Dad from our family is up in Heaven, having the eternal time of his life with Jesus!
It’s been almost four months since my husband; the father of my children, passed away after battling rare cancer for a year, while relying on strength through Jesus. In addition, it’s been four weeks since my own father died; unexpectedly. I’m hurting, but I’m so thankful that both of these fathers had accepted Jesus Christ; and will forever enjoy the fruit from God’s banquet table in Heaven!
“Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. ‘Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?” Then I will tell them plainly, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers (Matt. 7: 19-23 NIV)!” ’ ”
